Running and Racing Reliably Part III: Final Installment: Top-end Assembly
Ferrea stainless steel valves are swirl-polished, and measure 2.11/1.77 diameter (5.100 long) in the 1972 7F6 open chamber heads. K-Line bronze liners were used in the guides and were honed to size. Angles used in the valve job are 15, 30 seat, 65. Chamber volume was reduced to 103ccs by milling .040 from the deck surface. Each chamber was chamfered after milling to remove any sharp edges that could get hot and cause pre-ignition The chamber size combined with the piston-to-deck height of .015 and the gasket thickness will provide a compression ratio of 9:1.
