About The Buidlup
Kurt's LeMans, having been in the family since 1966, was actually treated to a street restoration in 1987. What you will see below, thanks to Kurt's photography, are a few in-process pictures from back then, followed by the updates made over the past few years to get the Pontiac to its present state.

Here is teardown circa 1986. The years of wear and tear are evident, but the climate kept rust to a minimum. |
The factory 326 two-barrel engine was plucked from its mounts after 120,000 miles, and it still ran perfectly. It was replaced with a 350 two-barrel which was then pulled in favor of a 455. |

With the front clip removed, we see a stock frame and suspension that are ready for upgrades. |
The engine compartment was sprayed in Acura Supersonic Blue Metallic four years ago. Note the suspension and brakes at the time were not upgraded to the level they are at now. |

Here we see a serious set of 14-inch Baer brakes, taller B-body spindles, Global West upper and lower tubular control arms fitted with Del-A-Lum bushings, HD Heim-jointed tie-rods, and a 11/8-inch front stabilizer bar. Also note the Afco dual adjustable coilovers. |
A 200-4R overdrive trans keeps highway revs down, and custom speaker enclosures that extend below floor level make the trick, tubular trans crossmember necessary. The 3-inch-diameter Pypes exhaust system also features dual electric cutouts that are controlled by a switch in the interior. Note the floorpan has not been detailed because this Pontiac was built to be driven--a lot. |
